nocturne
a curious creature unknowingly exploring the fate of his cosmic clown cousin, and himself
this was the first game i ever made, it was a great learning experience to dip my toes into gamedev and learn (read: fail and improve) workflows, basic principles, and common tasks. i was lucky enough to work with my partner keehar to learn and create this together :)
the skills i developed the most from this were my fluency with unity engine and c#, as i greatly increased my understanding of what gamedev involves. from making inventory systems to control/input flows, movement code to event systems, and much more, i gained a lot of knowledge on how to link systems together via programming. a particularly vital lesson was understanding how to effectively pass data between different objects and systems, react to the right data sources at the right time, and when to interact with what information
it was also the first time i had to work backwards from an aesthetic/mood while creating music rather than simply creating first and moving my ideas and vision forward from the songs themselves. it taught me more about how to apply sounds to feelings, rather than just fiddle with them until i stumbled upon something emotionally resonant
thank you つねこ for playing our game! :)
